Overview

(5-hydroxyindolo[1,2-a]quinazolin-7-yl)acetic acid is an experimental small molecule featuring a fused indole and quinazoline tricyclic scaffold with an acetic acid group. It is primarily under investigation for its potential anti-cancer properties due to its cytotoxic effects against various cancer cell lines. The compound acts as an ATP‐competitive inhibitor of casein kinase II subunit alpha (CK2), binding to the ATP-binding site and blocking enzyme activity. CK2 is a serine/threonine-protein kinase involved in regulating cell cycle progression, apoptosis, transcriptional control, and other cellular processes often dysregulated in cancer. This compound has demonstrated nanomolar inhibitory potency against CK2 in biochemical assays and may disrupt tumor growth by interfering with CK2-mediated signaling pathways[1][4][9].
